Evening with the Birds
I waited until blue hour to make this image. I really wanted the ambient light of the sky and the artificial lights on the lighthouse to reach a balance that made this exposure harmonious. The longer exposure drew the ocean out and provided a clean balanced foreground. I took a second exposure a few seconds later at a faster shutter speed to capture the birds sharply and blended the two exposures. But my favorite part of the image is the soft pastel sky that reflected its remaining light gently onto the lighthouse. @montauklighthouse is quintessential #longisland beauty and a place I will miss as my family and I take the next big steps in our lives.
